Ownership of these lyrics

Except for those songs labeled as "Traditional" these songs belong to me. They are my property and I own them. You may print out a copy for each member of your family who wants to sing along. But you may not hand them out at the mall, sing them in a public place, record them on any media and sell or give them away or any other means of distribution. Some people think that it's ok if you don't make money on it. Suppose you stole a car and gave it to a stranger or a friend. You wouldn't be making any money on it but IT WOULD STILL BE STEALING! If you don't want to be a thief then don't rip me off. In the case of those traditional songs, they belong to all of us so help your self.

Thank you

Old Time Country Music.

(Max Robinson)
July 3, 1997.

When I was young some years ago
I heard the Grand Old Opry show
It rested easy on my ear
That's the sound I want to hear

Chorus:

Give me that old time country music
Sing the blues sad and love sick
Scratchy records I don't care
There's no music can compare

Hank Williams wrote the best tunes
He was taken from us much too soon
If he had lived he would be the king
He left us many songs to sing

Chorus

Hank Snow was always Movin' On And Earnest walked the floor till dawn Eddie Arnold sent a rose George Morgan's only star still glows.

Chorus

Bridge:

Those days are gone forever

we can't wish them back again
But I still love to sing those songs
that come from way back when

That old time music isn't gone
If we keep singing it lives on
Some times I listen to the rest
But I love old time country music best.

Chorus

Don't Play "The Tennessee Waltz".

(Max Robinson)
April 28, 2000.

Long ago we danced to "The Tennessee Waltz"
a week before our wedding day
I let an old friend dance with you
he charmed you and took you away.

Chorus 1:

So DON'T PLAY "THE TENNESSEE WALTZ" for me

when I hear it I think of good by
I want to forget the night you left
remembering makes me cry.

Last year I saw you on TV
with bruises all over your face
Your x-husband and my x-friend
was led off to jail in disgrace.

A few weeks ago we chanced to meet

I stood there thinking of when
You promised to love me for evermore
you said the same thing again.

Although I was wary I soon understood

you were completely sincere
We fell in love all over again
I'm sure I have nothing to fear.

Chorus 2:

So play "The Tennessee Waltz" for us

this time you'll be my wife
I'll never forget the night you returned
and promised to stay for life.

It's a Twister.

(Max Robinson)
June 6, 1997.
Revised Dec. 13, 1997.
Revised Mar. 5, 2000.

Rain stops the game as winds begin to race
Lightening flashes thunder cracks and rolls
Apprehension's written in each face
Lights go dark some people lose control
The frightened children squeal
A lightening flash reveals
IT'S A TWISTER.

Debris the size of cars flies through the air
A hundred jet planes roar out of the sky
Some folks calmly kneel and say a prayer
The stinging wind brings tears to every eye
The bleachers groan and sway
Then all is swept away
In the twister.

Bridge:

Next morning when the news vans arrive
Few people are alive
To tell how they survived.

The town looks like it was a battle sight
Remains of lives are scattered on the grass
Survivors talk of hell on earth last night
They point out trees cut through by flying glass.
Tornadoes can strike any town large or small
So say your prayers each night and pray
you never hear the call
"IT'S A TWISTER".

Nobody Writes Songs About Teachers.

(Max Robinson)
April 3, 1998.

Chorus:

There are songs about lovers
And songs about bears
Songs about heroes
And the deeds they dared
More outlaws and cowboys
Than you can count
But nobody writes songs about teachers.

They're underpaid and over worked
Some wonder why teachers put up with it all
They battle with fifty screaming kids
Who can get so high they're climbing the wall
If someone is sent to the principle's desk
The parents are likely to side with the child.
On those days when homework is due
Their excuses would drive a sane person wild.

Chorus

If it's so bad why is it true
That people are willing to spend their time
Working for low pay in such a plight
That others would sue and call it a crime?
The rewards teachers get are worth more then gold
When the child understands and the look on that young face
Can bring tears to the eyes of a thirty year vet.
That's why those men and women stay in the chase.

Chorus

The Great Bear.

(Max Robinson)
April 26, 1997.

A mighty hunter Indian chief
Once chased an enormous bear
He caught her by the tail and flung her
Round and round in the air.
When he let go she flew away
Into the sky where she will stay
While being spun her tail was stretched
That's why the great bear looks that way.

Chorus:

THE GREAT BEAR
Ruler of the northern sky
She never sleeps or takes a rest
And not one thing escapes her eye.

She's been on watch ten thousand years
She guards the Little Bear, her cub
She rules the sphere of heaven as she
Circles the diurnal hub.

The archer's arrows have no sting
The hunting dogs remain at bay
She does not fear Orion's sword
They all leave the sky for half the day.

Chorus

The Green River Waltz.

(Max Robinson)
Feb. 25, 1996.

On a warm summer's evening
with the moon shining clear
We danced by the Green River
and I held her near
The rippling water
reflected moonlight
Softly shimmered on her face.
what a beautiful sight.
Then she waltzed with another
in the moon shadow play
And to my shock and sorrow
he took her away
I was left sad and lonely
because my love was false
I had no one to dance with
to the Green River Waltz.

As I walked off the dance floor

to my surprise
I bumped into you
and looked in your eyes
You said "Someone I trusted
has left without regret
I need you to hold me
and help me forget."
We drew closer together
as we whirled round the floor
It was true love at first sight
and would last ever more
The first moment I loved you
is what my heart recalls
As we danced in the moonlight
to the Green River Waltz.

Earth.

(Max Robinson)
January 30, 1996.
Revised July 29, 1998.

Earth
Brings forth life from woods and farms,
The good earth
Holds us in her loving arms,
Earth
Spins out time for us to live,
And earth
Finds a reason to forgive.

Time
Causes sleeping seeds to grow.
The passing time
Carves the land where rivers flow,
Time
Dries the tears in sorrow's eyes,
And time
Brings a love that never dies.

Life
Makes a flower seek the sun,
The force of life Drives the salmon run,
Life Is for each of us to share,
And life Is a gift beyond compare.

Love
Means there's no need to explain,
Someone's love
Takes away the lonely pain,
Love
Is a promise shared by two,
And love
Brings young life to start anew.

River One Half Mile.

(Max Robinson)
January 3, 1997.

While driving down a country lane
And trying to see through the rain
A sign I saw gave me a pleasant smile.
It seemed so strange and odd to me
Of all the signs that I might see
This one informed me "River one half mile".

I thought about that sign back there
And wondered why I aught to care
How far away that river was from here.
I drove on through the dark and rain
I smiled and chuckled once again
And figured that old river must be near.

Another sign seemed to repeat
Saying "River eight hundred feet"
I was still laughing when I topped the ridge.
To my surprise the headlights showed
A short way down this two lane road
The river all right but there was no bridge.
