Ownership of these lyrics

Except for those songs labeled as "Traditional" these songs belong to me. They are my property and I own them. You may print out a copy for each member of your family who wants to sing along. But you may not hand them out at the mall, sing them in a public place, record them on any media and sell or give them away or any other means of distribution. Some people think that it's ok if you don't make money on it. Suppose you stole a car and gave it to a stranger or a friend. You wouldn't be making any money on it but IT WOULD STILL BE STEALING! If you don't want to be a thief then don't rip me off. In the case of those traditional songs, they belong to all of us so help your self.

Thank you

When the Cat's Away.

(Max Robinson)
June 25, 2000.

My boss went on vacation
I came late and left early,
he'll never know
My secretary asked me "Are you
out of your head?"
As I left the office
I winked at her and said.

Chorus:

When the cat's away

the mice will play
When the tiger's in the mountains
the monkey is king
When the dogs are penned up
the possum has his day
When the eagle's on her nest
the lark will sing.

My wife went to visit her

mother for a while
I swung while she wasn't here
to cramp my style
When she got back the neighbor
told her every detail
When I sang her this song
she blew up in a gale.

Chorus

I went out of town and left

my son alone
I thought sixteen years old
was nearly grown
When I came home the house looked like
a sixties hippie commune
I confronted the boy and
he sang me this tune.

Chorus

Are You Sure?

(Max Robinson)
May 1, 1997
Revised Feb. 9, 2000

You want to leave me and go marry him
Can you tell me what is his allure?
You say the love that you share is so strong
by his side you feel safe and secure.
I'd like to know if his love is real
Will he always be there? Does he know I still care?
I wish you would stay but if you go away
I will wonder each day are you sure?

Your wedding day you're a beautiful bride
As you stand by his side so demure.
I can not hide the regret that I feel
But I'll do what I can to endure.
Wishing success and all happiness
Your mother and I know the love you have will grow;
So just do your best time takes care of the rest
And your lives will be blessed I am sure.

All Rights Reserved.

(Max Robinson)
August 6, 1998.
Revised July 2, 1999.

My wife and I were celebrating
Our first anniversary
With dinner, a movie and a dancin' spot
Other guys were lookin' at her
Tryin' to flirt behind my back
But I never worry 'cause I know what I've got.

Her licensing agreement is exclusive to me
It's illegal to clone copies of her
You can't borrow her even for a minute
It's strictly ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

I went to a sails convention
While she stayed home
There, a woman came on to me lookin' good
I told her I was married
She said "I'll never tell"
So I informed her exactly where I stood.

My licensing agreement is exclusive to her
I'll always play it straight never swerve
You can't borrow me even for a minute
It's strictly ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

The way some people act these days
A marriage vow don't mean a thing
They think they'll live forever and never have to pay
But we don't wanna be that way
We'll stay true all our lives
We'll have each other when they are alone, old and gray.

Our licensing agreement is exclusively
Between the parties known as me and her
You won't find a single loophole in our contract
It's simply ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

The Day We Touched the Moon.

(Max Robinson)
June 1, 1999.

If you're less than a certain age
it's sure you don't remember
A day in late July of sixty nine.
We gathered 'round our tv sets
and watched in awe and wonder
A mission in the name of all mankind.

I can't forget the tension as

the little craft descended
To that cratered, bolder strewn moonscape
One small mistake would cause their flight
and lives to be ended
I've got it all on old style reel tape.

Chorus 1:

The day we touched the moon
It was science fiction coming true
A Sunday afternoon
When Neel, Buzz, Me and you
All touched the moon.

Then we heard those immortal words
"Houston, Tranquility base here, the Eagle has landed" *
Only those who lived it know the thrill
If something should go wrong
they would be completely stranded
The nagging little thought brought on a chill.

Later that same evening

Neel climbed down the ladder
To touch the lunar surface for us all
The ghostly tv image was
mostly black and white
In spite of that the world was enthralled

Chorus 1

With high anticipation we

waited for the first words
Neel would say when he stepped on the moon.
"That's one small step for a man
one giant leap for mankind".
It's history and I was there too.

It's true there were only two

on that historic journey
There wasn't room enough for any more.
But every man and woman watching
road along in spirit
All the human race came to explore.

Chorus 2:

The day we touched the moon
It was science fiction coming true
It ended much too soon
When Neel, Buzz, Me and you
Departed from the moon.

* Stretch the music as much as needed to get it all in.

To the Max.

(Max Robinson)
August 11, 1999.

We've dined and danced all over town
The way you flirt is renown
It seems you want to win my heart
But our romance has yet to start.

Chorus:

You say you want me more
Than anybody could.
That I should stop my fretting and relax
Before I give myself
I want it understood
If you're gonna give your love

give it TO THE MAX.

You're talkin' marriage evermore
But you've been down that aisle before
You claim "This time it's for real"
But How can I know what you feel?

Chorus

Bridge:

My friends say I'm too trusting
Whatever I'm told I believe
I've been burned so now I'm wary
Do you think I'm still na´ve?

You've got to prove yourself to me
I won't rush in, I'll wait and see
We'll take time to find what we've got
And if it works we'll tie the knot.

Chorus

Mixed Signals.

(Max Robinson)
May 15, 1997.

One day my father lectured me
on teen age use of drugs
The way that parents often do
superior and smug.
He said "Don't run with dope heads that's
not how to be a man"
He was smoking while holding a
martini in his hand.
I'm getting

Chorus:

Mixed signals, mixed signals
Things are said and things are done
Sending mixed signals

My mother sat me down one night
to watch a TV show
All about the use of drugs
and how to just say no.
Commercials in the hour said
if you might get ill
Don't change your eating habits
just take this wonder pill.
They're sending

Chorus

I went out for football, coach

said I could make the team
He lectured us on drug use with
an old familiar theme
In private he gave me a bottle
it was no surprise
"Just take these pills and you'll bulk up
to be a lineman's size."
To many

Chorus

I'm so confused I don't know what

to do or how to cope
Everywhere I turn they're pushing
some new kind of dope
What's the difference if it's beer
or butts, crack or pot?
How can I decide if something's
bad for me or not?
Please stop these

Chorus

Never and Always.

(Max Robinson)
September 20, 1999.

I turned on my radio, there you were singing
I was in love by the end of the song
Your name and voice were all I knew
So I made you up. I don't care if I'm wrong.

Chorus:

I see you at sunrise and sunset
I hear you in spring and fall
I'll hold you NEVER AND ALWAYS
You've given me nothing and all.

The years have passed by me and turned into decades
And I still have a crush on you
We dance and sing each night in my dreams
But those kind of fantasies never come true

Chorus

Often when I speak to others about you
I casually use your first name
I think of you as colleague and friend
But I know that you'll never feel the same.

Chorus

@brokenhearts.com.

(At Broken Hearts Dot Com).
(Max Robinson)
January 31, 1997.
Revised Jan 30, 2002.

One day last week when I came home
I found you had gone.
I logged on to the Internet
and stayed up until dawn
It's lonely here without you, dear
I don't think I'll survive
Because you're not around me
I'll barely stay alive

Chorus 1:

Since you left me all alone

I don't know RAM from ROM
You'll find me on the internet
at broken hearts dot com

I can't imagine why you left

oh, what have I done wrong
We seemed so happy every day I thought our love was strong
Now you've run away my life
is one fantastic mess
Send me an E mail message to
my brand new web address.

Chorus 1

Today I came home feeling like

a man returned to jail
I turned on my computer and
a voice said "You've got mail".
The message told me why you went
it made my spirits ebb
"I left cause you stay up all night
surfing on the web".

Chorus 2:

Since she left me all alone

I can't tell RAM from ROM
Look for me on the internet
at broken hearts dot com
